About TAN
Technologies Across Nebraska is an initiative led by University of Nebraska–Lincoln Extension to create awareness and provide education to support communities as they make decisions regarding their future use of information technology. The initiative provides a network of expertise to assist communities in locating current information on infrastructure, policy and education and training issues and opportunities. Over forty entities are involved in a Technologies Partnership. This group of organizations, agencies and education systems are working cooperatively to help communities create awareness of, access to and ability for use of information technologies.
Goal
To provide a sustained source of information, training and educational opportunities to enable Nebraska communities and businesses to make informed decisions regarding information technology.
How the Partnership Supports Communities
Within two years, it is critical that as many Nebraska communities as possible have been engaged in a decision making process to insure their citizens have access to and are able to use the current information technology to enhance their businesses and quality of life. UNL Extension is providing assistance to communities by redirecting eight Extension Educators to spend up to fifty percent of their time working with communities to lead educational programs and teach internet based classes. Three classes, Master Navigator, Electronic Mainstreet and e-Government, are available in multi-sites statewide. The EDGE (Enhancing, Developing and Growing Entrepreneurs) program, a community based entrepreneurial opportunity, is available in approximately 12 sites on an annual basis.
If you are interested in joining the Technologies Across Nebraska Partnership or your community has undertaken an information technology initiative that you would like to share with the Partnership please email us at LTEMPEL1@UNL.EDU or call 402-472-3967 and indicate that you wish more information on Technologies Across Nebraska.
